Taxi: Reverend Jim's driving test
I used to love watching the show Taxi on Nick at Nite when I was a kid. Looking over the shows Nick at Nite and TV Land play now....I'm very close to shedding a tear for television. It's even worse than oldies radio nowadays.
I don't quite understand why these stations assume they have to update their lineup to include shows that aren't even five years old yet, or (most appallingly) create their own reality shows. The whole concept of the station is that it plays classic television. That means it shouldn't matter that Taxi was only 16 years old when it first joined the Nick at Nite lineup and it is 30 years old now. It's still a classic, is still just as damn funny, and is still missing from regular TV.
The only reason I even know about Taxi is because I watched it on Nick at Nite, and there is an entire generation who won't have that privilege because suddenly it's too old even for the oldies station. For the most part the lineup is stuff you don't even have time to miss from their first run, let alone shows you never knew about because they were from your parents' childhood. That just doesn't make sense to me.
Anyway. Watch this clip, it's Reverend Jim at his best. And, as a side note, I'm pretty sure one of the reasons I'm determined to marry a Jew is because I had a crush on Alex when I was little. Yea, Judd Hirsch!

The Catherine Tate Show - Translator
Oh, Catherine Tate. She's a British comedienne with a popular sketch comedy show. And she was the fourth series companion on Doctor Who.

The Rum Creeters
I write every Wednesday, the delightful Erin Hoover writes every Thursday, the delectable Steven Wedekind writes every Friday, and the delicious Sara M. writes every Monday. Also, every Tuesday at The Rum Creeters is Mix Tape Tuesday, so one of us will be posting a mix of some great tunes for your listening pleasure.
So check out http://rumcreeters.wordpress.com/ if you want to be assured that you will get a new and exciting post every weekday! This was our first week, so we don't have much to offer yet as far as quantity goes. But the quality will not be lacking. Because we're awesome. And, no, I'm not conceited.
In case you feared writing for The Rum Creeters meant I wouldn't keep posting videos here, you can put your worried mind to rest. Xanadu will be around as long as Blogger, YouTube, and I am. The internet is also an important prerequisite. Just know that I probably won't be updating this place unless I remember/find something so rock-awesome that I have to post it immediately. So, again, if it's consistency you want—The Rum Creeters is the place to go! Yes, I am super excited about our new blog. Did you even have to ask?

Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
Anyway, watch this. It's fun. And Neil Patrick Harris is fantastic, as always.
Watch Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog
It seems a lot of my posts have been music-related lately. Sorry about that. But, really, I'm not sorry. Music is good for you.

Let's Go the the Mall!
Teehee! Robin Sparkles, the Canadian pop sensation from the 1990s*! (The 80s didn't come to Canada until, like, 1993.)
*Actually from How I Met Your Mother. Theoretically the best sitcom on American television. Note I say theoretically.

Señor Wences
The legendary ventriloquist. He did all the voices. Johnny is the hand, Pedro is the head in the box. Probably the most famous catchphrase is the "S'okay?" "S'aright!" between Señor Wences and Pedro.

Argument to Beethoven's 5th
Sid Caesar and Nanette Fabray. This was a live performance, which makes it even more amazing.
He also played the football coach in Grease, in case you were wondering.

Game Over by PES
Fantastic rendition of classic arcade "game overs" done in stop-motion with everyday objects. Check out "Western Spaghetti" also by PES.

Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
This is the opening credits of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. It's a fantastic British series from 2004 that spoofs 80s sci-fi/horror/mystery/drama/hospital shows. It also spoofs bad editing and even worse acting (or is it the the other way around? It's difficult to tell).
Anyway, if you've ever seen anything produced by Stephen J. Cannell, then the opening credits alone should make you bust a rib.
Embedding the full episodes is disabled, but here's a link to the playlist of all the episodes on YouTube.

Turk does the Safety Dance
So, okay, it's a fanvid. But it's still put together well, and encompasses two things I love: 80s music and Scrubs.

Grooving the Bag, Mama
If you have the means, I highly suggest picking up a copy of the original Bedazzled (1967). And if you don't know who Peter Cook is, but he looks familiar, it's because he's The Impressive Clergyman from The Princess Bride ("Marwiage....marwaige is what bwings us togevva today...").
Apparently the embedding option is no longer available, so you're going to have to click here and watch it on YouTube. Sorry about that.
Now hop to it.

MST3K - The Final Sacrifice
One of my favorite Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes, despite not having Joel or the original Crow T. Robot.
Click right here to go straight to YouTube so you can see the whole picture better. The playlist is on autoplay, so it will go through all 10 sections. Ain't I nice for not making you go through and find all the sections yourself? Yes. Yes, I am.

Bitty Soda
A French short, complete with subtitles!
Another great sketch courtesy of Michael Nesmith. From his groundbreaking video "Elephant Parts" (it's pretty much what started MTV).
